Quantum physics is a complex interdisciplinary field of study that seeks to understand the behavior of nature at the most fundamental level. It is largely concerned with understanding the behavior of fermions, the particles where much of the physical phenomena occur, and their interactions with photons, or quanta, of energy at subatomic scales. The quantification of matter and energy gives rise to the properties of particles, as well as the fundamental forces that govern their interactions. Quantum physics draws together the impacts of fields such as mathematics and quantum mechanics, and explores the quantum states of matter, from atoms and molecules to large-scale structures in space-time.
